Each January, the Anchorage Folk Festival features performances by more than 120 acts from throughout Alaska and around the world. Singers, dancers, storytellers, and a variety of groups perform traditional and original material in styles ranging from folk to Celtic, bluegrass, jazz, klezmer and more. Guest artists from outside bring outstanding performances, workshops, and dances. The concerts and workshops are open to the public and are FREE. The festival raises money through memberships and fund raisers such as dances and an annual November fest event. Anchorage Folk Festival, Inc. is a non-profit, member-supported volunteer organization supporting folk arts in the community. It's goal is to support, encourage and promote music and dance through performance and education. The photo gallery on the Anchorage Folk Festival is a photographic documentary of the performers who appeared and the events which took place over the period of eight days in January. Because there were over 120 performing groups and individuals, it will take time to complete the process of editing and posting the photographs. Photos will be added to the gallery as they are completed usually in a random order. Any performers who wish to have copies of photos which I took of them, may contact me through this website contact page. |
